The Hilliard Arts Council’s (HAC) history dates back to the mid 1970’s. In 2002, the Arts Council formally incorporated and recieved tax exempt status in 2003. Since then the HAC has continuously increased its programming of the arts in the community. Even though the council has no physical home, it continues to expand its offerings. Some of their events are:
- Community orchestra
- Community band
- Community choir
- Community theater program
- Summer concert series
- Summer youth drama camp
- Art fair and art exhibits
- Sponsored prfessional concerts and theater
- Scholarships in the visual arts for seniors of the local high schools
Wit the completion of a building facility, the Hilliard Arts Council looks to expand and create new programs in art classes for adults and children, a children’s theater program, a children’s chorus, increased art exhibits for both professional and amateur artists and an expanded theater program. The new facility would also serve as a practice and performance space for existing programs.
